Frequently asked questions

How often is ECT registration renewed?
Annually, on a calendar-year basis — not based on the anniversary of your initial registration. This is the trap that catches new ECTs: even if you registered in June, your renewal is due December 31.
What happens if I let my ECT registration lapse?
You cannot work as an ECT in a registered service while your registration is lapsed. Lapsed registration may also affect your ability to renew — most states require you to re-apply rather than simply renew after a lapse.
